Yogic Relaxation Therapy
Relaxation is defined as the state of being when your mind and body are free from tension, anxiety, and stress. To help you handle stress and chronic pain, we can consciously induce therapeutic relaxation through relaxation techniques which might include restorative yoga, mindful touch, breathing techniques, sound therapy, and Yoga Nidra.
The primary objective with yogic relaxation therapy is to stimulate our parasympathetic nervous system. We seek to combine the principles of yoga therapy and yogic philosophy with the effects of relaxation. All these techniques, including restorative yoga, are known and proven to help activate our parasympathetic nervous system, allowing us to rest, digest, heal, restore, and rejuvenate. Gentle stretching & resting through restorative yoga shapes combined with skilful, therapeutic touch on certain points in the body, the occasional singing bowl, progressive muscle relaxation, and powerful visualization through Yoga Nidra, will help quiet the mind, foster healing & cultivate a deep sense of relaxation.

Why is it important to take time for yourself and to rest?
When we rest and relax, the flow of blood increases giving us more energy and clarity. It helps us to have a calmer and clearer mind which aids positive thinking and cognition. Relaxation slows our heart rate, reduces our blood pressure, and relieves pain. It also aids digestion as we absorb essential nutrients more efficiently when relaxed, which helps to fight off and manage dis-ease and stress. Deep relaxation ultimately slows down brain waves, which rejuvenates the brain’s chemistry. Stress can affect our mental state as it elevates levels of cortisol that affects the function of the brain and heart. By consciously taking time and deciding to relax, you counteract the stress chemicals in the body that cause muscle tension and fatigue. Meditation and mindfulness cultivates compassion, empathy, gratitude, creativity, and a sense of belonging. Deep resting and relaxation ultimately offers us the pure sense of bliss and harmony throughout.
Relaxation therapy is gentle and safe for all but if you have any concerns please reach out to us before your session.
